NO Acting experience necessary!
STORY LINE: An examination of what it means to grow up in America, through the lens of AAU basketball.
Especially Looking For: JACE - 13-16 to play 14. African-American, male. 6’ or taller. A 6’3” man-child struggles to deal w/the pressures of being one of the top ranked basketball players in the country. Cocky &
competitive, he has to learn to be a leader in addition to a baller. Innate athletic ability; basketball a plus.
Other Lead Roles:
NICK - 13-16 to play 14, Puerto Rican, male. 5’11” or taller. Eye on the prize, even being displaced by a hurricane, won’t stop his drive to be the best in the country. Innate athletic ability; basketball a plus.
DREW - 13-16 to play 14. Caucasian, male. 5’8” or taller. From an affluent part of town, but no trouble
fitting in. Only thing more impressive than his jump shot is his trash talk. Innate athletic ability; b’ball a plus.
CRYSTAL - 13-16 to play 14. African American, female. She is attractive & athletic. One of the top female ball players in the city, she won’t hesitate to play against the boys.
PHIL - 13-16 to play 14. African American, male. 6’or taller. Rival team enforcer. Never know if he’s
playing football or b’ball. Gruff demeanor/temper; troubled home life. Innate athletic ability; b’ball a plus.
ROYALE - 13-16 to play 14. African American, male. NO height requirement. Rival team. His struggle to fit in is matched by his struggle to live up to his father’s expectations. Innate athletic ability; b’ball a plus.
